"I thought I knew a good deal about writing a book proposal, but when CMS critiqued & edited mine, I learned so much more. This has been a wonderful, stretching experience and my book proposals will never be the same. I am sharing what I have learned with other writers in our writers group and hope we will be able to offer a class on writing query letters and book proposals at our next Carolina Christian Writers Workshop which I direct. Thank you, D.C. Jacobson & Associates team, for your diligent help on my novel proposal."

FAQs regarding our Critique & Edit Services
How does the Critique & Edit service work?
  • Simply select the Critique or Critique & Edit service, enter your payment information, and prepare your manuscript proposal following the guidelines in “Create Your Proposal”. When you have completed your proposal, click the Critique or Critique & Edit button that appears at the bottom of your saved screen.
  • Your personal literary consultant will contact you within two weeks by phone (for Critique & Edit only) to discuss your proposal and vision for the project, and/or by email (for either service) to send you a very practical, in-depth evaluation of your proposal and writing sample, with specific suggestions for improvement. If you choose the Critique & Edit service, your consultant will conduct one final edit after you make the recommended revisions.
  • After working with your consultant, you are free to review your proposal and make any final changes before posting it for publishers and agents to view.
  • With revisions complete, choose the "Submit to Publishers" button. Your proposal is then made available in the Christian Manuscript Submissions online database for review by our member agents and publishers for six months.
  • Your proposal will receive a special Bronze, Silver, or Gold Badge notifying publishers it may warrant extra consideration, as explained below.
