How does this work?

• Simply complete the payment process and prepare your manuscript proposal following the specific guidelines in the “Create Your Proposal”. Be assured that as you complete your proposal, you will be able to reference instructions for each section. You are also able to stop working, save and return to your proposal later for completion.

• Once you complete your manuscript proposal and click "Submit to Publishers", it is available in the Christian Manuscript Submissions online database for review by our member publishers.

• If a publisher is interested in your proposal, they will contact you directly using the information that you provide.

• Your manuscript proposal will remain in the database for six months from the time that you click the Submit button.

• If at the end of six months you have not received publisher contact, you will be reminded of the expiration date. Your Biographical Information and password will remain in the system for an additional six months. This provides the option to re-enter your proposal with revisions or submit a new proposal idea.

How can I increase the chances of having my proposal published?

Set yourself apart by making sure that your proposal is the best it can be. Have others read your manuscript and welcome critique. Take time to thoroughly answer each question on the proposal form; including in-depth review of your personal history and relevant areas of speaking/teaching/experiencing that makes you able to write as an expert on your topic. Attend a Writer?s Conference, seek acquisition of a literary agent, build your own 'author brand' and review the Author Services tab on the toolbar of this site.

What if I already have a completed manuscript?

Although the ChristianManuscriptSubmissions.com service only allows for submission of a writing sample (or portion of your manuscript), the proposal format is specifically designed to provide the publisher with all they need to get a feel for the entirety of your work. By reading your proposal synopsis, topic, chapter titles and writing sample, the publisher sees a good portion of your effort. ChristianManuscriptSubmissions.com provides the opportunity to knock on the publishers’ door and present them with your book proposal.

What are the chances of being published through this service?

The publishing world can be a difficult world to enter. However, ChristianManuscriptSubmissions.com was designed at the request of our member publishers – to meet their need for an efficient review process for unsolicited manuscripts. Most of our publishers no longer review unsolicited manuscripts mailed to them due to their inability to devote staff time to adequately review the enormous amount of unsolicited manuscripts in print they receive each week. This service offers a win-win situation for new authors and publishers.

Can I show my proposal to others while it is on the CMS service?

Yes, we encourage all of our authors to view the resources on the Author Services tab – seeking out all opportunities to talk with editors and/or publishers. Also, visit the Writers Conference tab and consider attending a Christian Writers conference. You will have the opportunity to network with fellow authors and learn valuable information about the Christian publishing industry in general. Many times, you will have a chance to meet an editor or agent to review your manuscript during the meeting as well.

When does the six-month period begin?

The six-month exposure period for your proposal begins when you choose the "Submit to Publishers" button at the bottom of your saved screen. How does the Critique & Edit service work?
  • Simply select the Critique or Critique & Edit service, enter your payment information, and prepare your manuscript proposal following the guidelines in “Create Your Proposal”. When you have completed your proposal, click the Critique or Critique & Edit button that appears at the bottom of your saved screen.
  • Your personal literary consultant will contact you within two weeks by phone (for Critique & Edit only) to discuss your proposal and vision for the project, and/or by email (for either service) to send you a very practical, in-depth evaluation of your proposal and writing sample, with specific suggestions for improvement. If you choose the Critique & Edit service, your consultant will conduct one final edit after you make the recommended revisions. (International authors will need to place the call to the literary consultant.)
  • After working with your consultant, you are free to review your proposal and make any final changes before posting it for publishers and agents to view.
  • With revisions complete, choose the "Submit to Publishers" button. Your proposal is then made available in the Christian Manuscript Submissions online database for review by our member agents and publishers for six months.
  • Your proposal will receive a special Bronze, Silver, or Gold Badge notifying publishers it may warrant extra consideration, as explained below.

How will the Critique & Edit service improve my proposal? Why is this extra service a valuable investment?

An author only has one chance to make a favorable first impression with publishers and agents, and in this difficult market it is all the more important to present your work in its best possible light. By purchasing the Critique and Critique & Edit option for your proposal, you will receive personal coaching from experienced publishing professionals. The service is designed to help you avoid common mistakes and maximize your proposal's strengths and unique value proposition. It improves your chances of being contacted by a publisher or agent and gives you valuable tips and proposal writing skills that you can transfer to other projects as well.

The Critique and Critique & Edit service will improve your proposal at every level by ensuring an eye-catching 'Title' and 'Topic' line, clarifying your 'Potential Market' and 'Similar Works', offering industry-informed creativity for 'Promotion Ideas', making the most of your 'Summary Description' and honing your 'Writing Sample' for clarity, tone, spelling, grammar, and intrigue to make publishers and agents want to see more of your manuscript. In shopping for this type of service, an author would find the pricing to be well within industry standards for the level of service provided. As evidenced by the positive feedback and endorsements from our clients, this eye-opening experience will provide you with the confidence to know that your book idea has been strengthened and polished.

Additionally, your proposal will be marked with a special badge, signifying that it's been professionally reviewed. If your proposal goes through the Critique service, it will feature the BelieversPress Bronze Badge Bronze Badge. If it goes through the Critique & Edit service, it will receive the BelieversPress Silver Badge Silver Badge, notifying publishers and agents that it has been professionally edited. It will also be eligible to receive the BelieversPress Gold Badge Gold Badge, awarded to those few edited proposals identified to be of such outstanding quality that they merit immediate consideration for publication.
